With that said, after dabbling with the more action-oriented live-action movies, it appears that the series is going back to the source material’s roots for a more survival horror take. Now, audiences will finally get a chance to see what it will look like in action.

The Resident Evil live-action reboot was first announced in 2019. However, it wasn’t until earlier this year that more details about the film started to emerge. The cinematic re-imagining of Capcom’s best-selling franchise will be directed by Johannes Roberts and was initially given a September 2021 premiere date. Later interviews with the director would reveal the film’s title as Sony decided to push back the film’s release date to November, presumably to avoid being overshadowed by Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. As the November 24 premiere date of Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City comes closer, Sony treated fans to a couple of photos and exciting new details about the upcoming film. Filming ran from October to December 2020 with reshoots scheduled in May 2021. In the live-action movie’s first-ever teaser, audiences are given a glimpse of what to expect from the movie. In particular, how the zombie dogs look and the brief appearance of Marina Mazepa’s Lisa Trevor. Both have a prominent role in the first two Resident Evil games. The former, especially, is iconic. Although we didn’t include that moment in the first game when a zombie dog jumps through the window to deliver one of the franchise’s most well-known jump scares, it more than deserves an honorable mention. What is interesting here though is the appearance of the zombified dogs. Instead of practical effects and a slimmer look, it appears that the movie is going for more bulk and CGI. Whatever the case is, the gruesome visual design of the dogs in the teaser is enough to get fans excited at the prospect of getting scared out of their wits. Having said that, it’s safe to say that Sony’s teaser trailer has got fans excited for the first Resident Evil: Welcome to Racoon City trailer.
