When is Star Wars: Eclipse going to be released?
Earlier in September, there were reports that Quantic Dream was working on a Star Wars game. A few weeks later, Disney teased that something was coming in December. This all came to a head at The Game Awards 2021. Quantic Dream confirmed that it was working on Star Wars: Eclipse while dropping the game’s debut trailer. Judging from the game’s first trailer, Eclipse will be set during the High Republic era. Interestingly enough, Eclipse appears to feature characters that look a lot like Yoda and C-3PO as well as the usual Sith bad guys. Unfortunately, the reveal trailer did not include any information as to when Star Wars: Eclipse will be released. We don’t even have information about the game’s platforms. However, because it wasn’t flat-out confirmed to be exclusive to the PlayStation, we do believe that Eclipse is going to be a multi-platform title unlike Aspyr Media’s Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. With that said, Quantic’s upcoming Star Wars game is arguably the most highly anticipated game right now. Quantic is known for narrative-driven adventures. For the studio to move out of its comfort zone by making an action-adventure game suggests that it’s confident it’s got what it takes to do the IP justice. The arrival of Star Wars Eclipse is in line with Disney’s announcement earlier this year. Back then, Disney confirmed that more studios will have the opportunity to work on new Star Wars games after EA lost exclusivity. On that note, several other developers are also working on a new Stars Wars game. In addition to Quantic Dream and Aspyr Media, Respawn Entertainment is also busy developing Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2. Meanwhile, Ubisoft is also making a Star Wars game albeit details are scarce on the project and it likely won’t be revealed until it is ready. Between the best Star Wars games that are already available right now and those coming up, as well as other Star Wars shows like the Book of Boba Fett, Ahsoka, Obi-Wan Kenobi, it’s a great time to be a fan of the iconic sci-fi franchise.
