What are the PlayStation Plus May 2021 Free Games?

Sony has been generous so far for the past few months. March, in particular, was a great month as Sony gave away Final Fantasy 7 Remake to PlayStation Plus subscribers, which they followed up with Days Gone and Oddworld: Soulstorm in April. But, as amazing as the March and April offerings might have been, Sony might be planning to go bigger for May. Or, at least, that’s what the recent leaks will have us believe. According to the reputable leaker, Shpeshal Ed, four games are at the forefront of possibly being made free for PlayStation Plus subscribers in May. His first two games were Godfall and Disco Elysium: The Final Cut. If you remember, PEGI recently rated the former PS5-exclusive for the PlayStation 4. However, the inclusion of Disco Elysium: The Final Cut is surprising. The game hasn’t exactly been out for more than a month yet. It makes less sense for it to be available for free to PlayStation Plus subscribers in May. But, then again, weirder things have happened these past few months, so who knows? With that said, Shpeshal Ed did advise audiences to take his most recent leak with a grain of salt before adding that his other source claims that the PlayStation Plus May free games will be Battlefield V and Stranded Deep. Of the two leaks from Shpeshal Ed, the pairing of Battlefield V and Stranded Deep is a bit more disappointing. The latter was released way back in 2015. This would make it one of the oldest offerings to make its way to the PlayStation Plus lineup in a while. Although, it would make sense for Battlefield V to be added if only to help drum up the interest for Battlefield 6. Thankfully, we don’t have to wait for too long to find out what the PlayStation Plus May 2021 free games are. Sony is expected to announce next month’s PlayStation Plus lineup on or before Friday, April 30.

Are There Other Free PlayStation Games?

Just in case you missed it, Christmas has come early for PlayStation Plus owners. As if in response to Microsoft securing Outriders and MLB The Show 21 on Xbox Game Pass at both game’s respective launch dates, Sony gave away Horizon Zero Dawn, among others, as part of the Play at Home initiative with the promise of more down the line. Here’s to hoping that the free game library between Microsoft and Sony heats up even more.
