This iconic phrase by Thanos is perfectly fitting for what’s happening to shooters these days. It doesn’t matter what franchise it is, if it’s a shooter and it wants to stay popular, it needs to have a battle royale mode. However, Halo Infinite currently doesn’t have such a mode, which is what many are saying is the reason why 343 Industries brought in Certain Affinity. Now, Jez Corden just revealed more details about the battle royale mode for Halo Infinite. In a recent Xbox Two podcast episode, the Windows Central editor dropped information about what Halo Infinite’s battle royale variant would look like. Here’s a quick rundown of everything Corden discussed:
343 brought in Certain Affinity to work on the battle royale mode so that it can focus on the rest of Halo Infinite. The battle royale mode is being considered a huge project that’s separate from the main game. It’s targeting audiences that are already playing Warzone, Fortnite, as well as Apex Legends. What 343 wants is to give new players something familiar that will eventually bring them over to the more standard Halo experiences offered by the game. The mode might be released by season 3 if not season 4.
In addition to Corden, another leaker claims to know things about the in-development Halo Infinite game mode.
— InfiniteLeaks (@leaks_infinite) April 16, 2022 For now, all we have to go on Halo’s take of a battle royale mode are leaks. This implies that both 343 and Certain Affinity are not ready to talk. Knowing 343, it’s trying to avoid a situation where it makes another promise that it can’t keep. The studio has already delayed features such as the co-op campaign and Forge twice after delaying Halo Infinite for over a year. If nothing else, everything that we’ve heard about Certain Affinity, 343, and Halo Infinite, all point towards something. Even if it’s not a battle royale mode, we know for sure that 343 and Certain Affinity are cooking up something big for Halo Infinite. The only questions now are, what is it, when it’s coming out, and how will it stand out from other battle royales out there? In other Halo Infinite news, Master Chief continues to bleed players on the PC. If 343 cannot stop this, Halo Infinite could bottom out like Battlefield 2042. At that point, it won’t matter what kind of mode is coming to Halo Infinite.
