With less than half a year to go before the third Fantastic Beasts film premieres in theaters, Warner Bros. Pictures decided to drop a new trailer for the upcoming film.
Grindelwald is back with a new face but with the same plan
The first preview for Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore is everybody’s first look at Mads Mikkelsen’s take on the movie’s primary antagonist. Meanwhile, as we’ve mentioned earlier, Law and Redmayne, as well as the rest of the gang, are the only ones separating the Wizarding World from the clutches of Grindelwald. After being confirmed earlier this year, the film’s debut trailer takes no time diving into the meat of the story, or at least, the subtitle. With Dumbledore’s secrets now, well, no longer a secret, the unlikely team composed of a magizoologist, schoolteacher, and a muggle, are now seeking out Dumbledore for answers. All the while, Grindelwald continues to grow in power as the world inches closer to certain doom. Of course, the highlight of the trailer is Mads Mikkelsen. The Danish actor is the third to portray Fantastic Beasts’ big baddie so far, displacing Johnny Depp. Speaking of, Depp recently spoke out about the Hollywood boycott that was going on. Initially, Depp was tapped to reprise his role for the third movie. Unfortunately, personal controversies resulting from the messy divorce between him and Amber Heard forced Warner Bros. to distance themselves from the Hollywood actor just as they have with the book’s author, J.K. Rowling. Having said that, it remains to be seen if Mikkelsen is the last actor to portray Grindelwald. With Fantastic Beasts set to include at least two more movies, Grindelwald will star as the main villain for at least two more films. Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore is set to release exclusively in theaters on April 15, 2022.
