If true, the delay will be a huge setback for EA and DICE. Battlefield 2042 is already up against Call of Duty: Vanguard and Halo Infinite. A second delay would put it at a significant disadvantage. Thankfully, another, more prominent gaming industry insider was quick to shoot down talks of EA delaying Battlefield 2042.
Battlefield 2042 is going to be released in November as planned
EA already delayed Battlefield 2042 a few weeks ago. Instead of releasing in October, Battlefield 2042 will launch on November 19. But, according to one rumor that went around over the weekend, EA and DICE were going to delay Battlefield 2042 even further to March 2022. Tom Henderson took to Twitter to shut down these talks and claims that Battlefield 2042 is already ready to go, “regardless of the BETA.”
Everyone I’ve spoke to say it will release Nov 19 regardless of the BETA because the team is confident it’s ready. — Tom Henderson (@Tom_Henderson) October 3, 2021 Of course, Tom Henderson isn’t exactly an official source, but he sure is more legitimate compared to the one who started the rumors of another Battlefield 2042 delay. Not to mention, he has proven himself in the past several times. He’s one of the few to leak correct information about Battlefield 2042 and continues to be a consistent source of useful intel such as the upcoming Battlefield 2042 beta dates, which was later confirmed by EA and DICE. However, it is worth noting that Henderson’s statement came with a caveat. He explained that EA and DICE could still delay Battlefield 2042 to 2022. If this happens, Battlefield 2042 won’t be the first game to be released at a later date. The COVID-19 pandemic continues to rage on and make its presence felt across the world. As a result, several studios have postponed the release of their 2021 games to 2022. One of the biggest examples of this is Guerilla Games’ Horizon Forbidden West. Sony had already held a showcase dedicated for Forbidden West ahead of its 2021 release only to confirm later on that the game will launch on February 18, 2022, instead. Besides, there are only a few weeks left before the release of Battlefield 2042. At this point, it’s useless for fans to worry about a delay. Gamers are better off looking forward to the open beta on October 8.
