Having said that, fans are now speculating that Kojima’s latest holiday card might have just confirmed his next project.
Did Kojima just confirm his next project on Twitter?
Kojima is a mystery wrapped in an enigma. You never quite know what to expect from the eccentric video game auteur, but his best games prove that it’s almost always worth keeping an eye on what he is working on. This is why fans are getting excited after seeing what Kojima recently shared on his personal Twitter account. A peculiar holiday card associated with Kojima Productions features characters that have not appeared in any other Kojima game before.
— 小島秀夫 (@Kojima_Hideo) December 24, 2021 As we’ve already mentioned, one of the biggest reasons why fans believe that the card is a tease for Kojima’s next project is because it features original characters. It’s an awful lot of work for someone to design a card for Kojima that doesn’t include his most iconic characters. Not to mention, the artwork is from Yoji Shinkawa, a longtime Kojima collaborator who previously worked on his biggest games like Metal Gear and Death Stranding. Of course, this is all just mere speculation. Shinkawa might have just made these characters up for no reason. Or, maybe, these characters are mascots for for Kojima Productions. Either of those two explanations makes sense, especially since Shinkawa also previously designed the original character for Kojima Production’s logo. Ultimately, it all feels like just a matter of time before Kojima announces his next game. It’s been well over two years since Death Stranding was released. This suggests that the company might be ready to show off its next project sometime in 2022. Regardless of whether the card was a tease or not, we’re hoping for something big from Kojima this coming year. In other Kojima news, we haven’t heard much from BLUE BOX Game Studios and Abandoned. The “indie” studio dropped its highly anticipated app for the PS5 earlier this year, which turned out to be pretty much nothing. Later on, BLUE BOX’s lead developer, Hasan Kahraman, clarified that Abandoned is not a horror game. Since then, the studio has remained relatively silent except for teasing that a tech demo will drop soon. Despite insisting otherwise, there are still plenty of fans who believe that Abandoned is a Kojima game hiding in plain sight.
