TLDR; if you haven’t played Lair of the Shadow Broker before, now’s a good time to fix that. The news of the free Mass Effect and Dragon Age DLC comes from u/AircraftSam89, who claims to have received an email from EA, saying: According to the email, the “affected” games include the following:
Dragon Age II Dragon Age: Origins Mass Effect 2 Mass Effect 3
Starting on October 11, players can get the DLC for the said titles just by clicking the “Get it Free” button under the “Extra Content” tab. The change does not affect other existing EA premium currencies such as “crystals” and “platinum” that are for Battlefront II and Dragon Age: Inquisition, respectively.
Unfortunately, the free DLCs do not include the multiplayer packs for Mass Effect 3, which, you could argue, is the best part of the final game of the initial Mass Effect trilogy. If nothing else, this is a great PR move by EA. The publisher already deserved credit after it made the original Mass Effect trilogy available following the release of Mass Effect Legendary Edition. Making the DLC for Mass Effect 2 and 3 available for free is a huge bonus. This is great news for those who’ve waited for years to play Mass Effect 2 and 3. In other news, Rockstar Games effectively sent Red Dead Online to pasture with its recent statement. Meanwhile, Ubisoft is under fire for delisting several games like Assassin’s Creed: Liberation and making them unavailable to play. Finally, Konami assured longtime fans that it will bring back Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3 after taking both titles down because of licensing issues.
