It’s not all doom and gloom for DC Comics as we are getting a preview of Doctor Fate’s character for the upcoming Black Adam film. The new poster was shared on Twitter by Black Adam star Dwayne Johnson. The new poster shows Pierce Brosnan’s Doctor Fate wearing his full superhero costume and about to cast a spell. Doctor Fate is the leader of the Justice Society of America and one of the most powerful magic users in DC.

Doctor Fate
Kent Nelson, son of archeologist Sven Nelson, accompanies his father on a trip to the Valley of Ur, in what is now modern-day Iraq. There he opens the tomb of Nabu the Wise, waking the ancient god from suspended animation and accidentally releasing poisonous gas that kills his father. Nabu takes pity on the child and trains him as a sorcerer for twenty years, giving him the Artifacts of Fate: a mystical helmet, amulet, and cape. From then on, Nelson became known as Doctor Fate as he co-founds the Justice Society of America (JSA) and becomes its appointed leader. Pierce Brosnan will portray Doctor Fate in the upcoming DCEU film and was reportedly very much into the character, even helping design the Helmet of Fate. Doctor Fate will appear alongside the other JSA members such as Hawk Man, Atom Smasher, and Cyclone.
Doctor Fate and Black Adam
We know very little about the plot of the movie Black Adam. From what has been revealed through teasers, interviews, and social media posts, we know that after Black Adam is revived, he goes on a rampage as he adjusts to his new environment. His ruthless methods attract the attention of the JSA which attempts to stop the destruction. How the JSA would stop an angry Black Adam should be an interesting subplot to the movie. We assume that Black Adam teams up with Doctor Fate and the rest of the JSA to take on the main antagonist of the movie, Sabbac. Sabbac, similar to Black Adam and Shazam, utters his name to receive the power of six demons: Satan, Aym, Belial, Beelzebub, Asmodeus, and Crateis. Marwan Kenzari plays the character of Ishmael Gregor / Sabbac in the DC Extended Universe. Black Adam will be showing in theaters on October 21, 2022. It will be the last DCEU film of the year after the delays to Shazam! Fury of the Gods and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. All eyes will be on the box office performance of Black Adam as it has been rumored that a spin-off JSA film is hinged on how well it earns. If Black Adam becomes a blockbuster success, perhaps we are going to see more of the DC Extended Universe heroes have their own movies. A separate Doctor Fate movie would be awesome, don’t you think? If Dwayne Johnson can convince DCEU executives to make a separate film, perhaps Pierce Brosnan can charm his way into a spin-off movie. In the meantime, we can watch the official Black Adam trailer on loop.
