The former is understandable. The game promises to be even more chaotic than battle royale titles. Turning it into a battle royale game won’t be necessary. On the other hand though, Halo Infinite might benefit from it. The latest installment in the Halo franchise, which is still in development, will have a free-to-play multiplayer mode, which would do well as a battle royale title. While 343 Industries has yet to confirm if Halo Infinite will have a battle royale mode, data miners have already found clues hinting at this possibility.

Is Halo Infinite going to have a battle royale mode?

In case you didn’t know, 343 Industries has brought back the fan-favorite announcer, Jeff Steitzer, for Halo Infinite. Now, data miners have found a recording of Jeff that appears to say the words “battle royale”. The voice clip has since been uploaded online, so you can listen if you want. With that said, it does sound like Jeff saying “battle royale”, which is as credible of a leak as any. However, because any sort of battle royale features for Halo Infinite are currently unconfirmed, we’d like to remind you to take this information with a grain of salt. While it is indeed true that the recent technical test gave data miners a chance to dive deep within the game files, finding something there doesn’t mean that it’s coming to the game. The audio might just be a placeholder or canceled content or an in-game model. It might even be a recorded voice line for players to use in their own custom games, in case they wanted to make a battle royale mode. The main reason why we are skeptical of this information is that 343 Industries has already confirmed that it doesn’t want to add a battle royale mode to Halo Infinite. Lead writer Jeff Easterling specifically said that 343 Industries is not interested in making a battle royale mode for the next Halo title. The game’s director, Frank O’Connor, later echoed the same things. However, O’Connor did mention that players can create their own battle royale modes in Forge, so while 343 might not want to make it themselves, the studio is not ruling out the possibility of players making one for themselves. Speaking of the Halo Infinite game files, 343 has warned audiences to steer clear of spoilers. Even if it is not a complete build, the technical test files contain spoilers for the campaign. Ultimately, leaks and speculations like these were to be expected. This isn’t just because of the popularity of battle royale titles. It’s also because Halo Infinite is close to releasing. 343 has not given Halo Infinite a release date yet. However, Xbox head Phil Spencer confirmed that the game is on track for a holiday 2021 release.
