Now, after releasing Crysis: Remastered Trilogy last year, it appears that Crytek sees the perfect opportunity to continue the series that put the studio on the map. According to an official teaser trailer from Crytek, Crysis 4 is in development. Unfortunately, the description suggests that the game is still in its very early stages. Don’t expect to see Crysis 4 teased again until 2023 if not 2024. But, from what we’ve seen so far, Crysis 4 will take place in an urban setting in a city destroyed by what looks like solar flares. Crytek CEO Avni Yerli also posted a new blog confirming the status of Crytek 4. In addition, Yerli revealed that Crysis 4 will be released only on the PS5 and Xbox Series S/X, as well as probably the PC. If nothing else, this confirms that Crytek is back to pushing the boundaries of what today’s hardware can do. We’re holding out hope that Crytek has something special planned for Crysis later this year. The franchise is set to celebrate its 15th anniversary in November. The upcoming holiday season would be the ideal time for Crytek to reveal more about Crysis 4 even if it’s just a slightly longer teaser trailer and/or a potential release window. For now, fans of the Crysis games can keep themselves busy playing the aforementioned Crysis Remastered Trilogy. Although the compilation was not well-received at launch, Crytek has committed to improving the gameplay experience. Most recently, Crytek removed the controversial DRM software, Denuvo, from Crysis Remastered Trilogy. The studio also added support for Deep Learning Super Sampling for better graphics.
