The management agency for Korean actor Ma Dong-Seok, also known as Don Lee, issued a public statement promoting his upcoming projects. Among the listed projects is Eternals 2, in which the actor plays Gilgamesh, the strongest of the Eternals. “As production on the drama ‘Hive’ remains unclear, Ma Dong-Seok is in discussion and planning for many movies and dramas scheduled for production next year, " the statement said. “Currently, Ma Dong-Seok is filming ‘Criminal City 4’. ‘Holy Night: Demon Hunters’, ‘Wilderness’, and ‘Criminal City 3’ are about to be released, and ‘Eternals 2’ and other global projects he’ll be appearing in are planned to be produced.”

However, it was revealed in the movie that each member of the Eternals is a clone that was created by the Celestials for a purpose. This means that the Gilgamesh we’ll see in the Eternals sequel is a different clone, presumably stationed on distant planets in the universe. Director Chloe Zhao has expressed interest in returning to direct Eternals 2. Gemma Chan who plays Sersi is also open to returning as part of the sequel. Patton Oswalt, the actor who voiced Pip the Troll, previously revealed that a sequel was in the works. “They have announced there is going to be an Eternals sequel and Chloe Zhao is going to direct it,” Patton said. “So hopefully there will be more adventures of Starfox and Pip.” Marvel Studious producer Nate Moore has also teased that the Eternals are returning. “I don’t want to spoil anything, but we have not seen the last of those characters,” Moore said during an interview promoting Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. The post-credits scenes from the movie also planted the seeds for a sequel, as is the usual MO of Marvel Studios. In one post-credits scene, Starfox aka Eros boards the Eternals ship and offers his assistance in retrieving Sersi, Phastos, and Kingo who were abducted by Arishem. The celestial also vowed to return to Earth to pass judgment on the planet. The other post-credits scene revealed that Dane Whitman is revealed to be in possession of the Ebony Blade. The sword is a powerful enchanted weapon that grants the wielder superhuman powers. If the sequel does happen, we expect Kit Harrington’s Black Knight and Harry Style’s Eros to team up with the remaining Eternals to stop Arishem. Hopefully, the Eternals would also be part of the Multiverse Saga and help defeat Kang the Conqueror. However, if Eternals 2 will happen, it’ll have to be part of Phase 6, presumably after Blade, which has found a new writer and director, premieres. With at least three years to go before Eternals 2 hits theaters, it’ll be a while before we’ll see them return on the big screen.
